Eileen’s Lesson: How Making Assumptions Can Lead to Unfinished Decisions
When my son was learning how to drive, we would go to various places across the state of Maryland for practice.
One day, I asked him, “Why don’t we take the highway and head to your favorite Tex-Mex place for lunch?” He said, “Great idea.”
When we arrived, my son placed his order — Chicken Fajitas for Two. The waiter then walked away. I then screamed, “Wait, I need to order too.”
The waiter looked at my slightly built 16-year-old and said, “Is that all for you?” He said, “Yes.” The waiter then gave my son a high five and said, “My man.”
Funny, I know. Many times, when we are busy, we make assumptions about people and then move on without realizing we have unfinished decisions to make.
